Privacy Policy

UniSync is an independent productivity app for BYU and other college students in the United States and Canada. It organizes calendar, assignment, and reminder information to help students manage their academic schedules. UniSync is not directed to children.

Depending on how you use UniSync, we collect the following information:

• Your name and email address.
• Device and browser information, along with app and performance analytics.
• Course names and identifiers.
• Assignment titles, descriptions, due dates, completion state, and related calendar information.
• Your private iCalendar-feed URL.

A private iCalendar-feed URL can grant access to a private calendar, so we treat it as a sensitive access token.

You can sign in directly with Canvas or BYU Learning Suite in an in-app browser. UniSync does not receive or store your Canvas or Learning Suite password, multifactor-authentication code, or session cookie.

After you choose to connect, UniSync receives your calendar-feed URL and the course and calendar data required to import and synchronize your academic information.

The UniSync mobile app uses Google AdMob. In connection with advertising, Google AdMob and authorized ad-technology partners may receive or process advertising identifiers, your IP address (which can be used to estimate general location), device model, operating system, language, time zone, ad impressions, clicks and views, app interactions in connection with ads, and ad diagnostics and performance information.

This information is used for advertising, measurement and analytics, and fraud prevention. Google and authorized ad-technology partners receive this data under their own terms and policies. Advertising data is not used to operate the calendar-connection feature.

• Provide in-app reminders and updates.
• Respond to support requests and improve performance.
• Support advertising, measurement, and fraud prevention.
• Comply with legal obligations and protect our rights.

• Hosting and service providers process data on our behalf to provide UniSync.
• Google and authorized ad-technology partners receive the AdMob data described above.
• UniSync does not sell personal data for money.

For California residents, sharing advertising identifiers for cross-context behavioral advertising can be a sale or share even if no money changes hands. This policy uses “sell or share” in that broader sense.

You can manage advertising choices through iOS Tracking controls, Android advertising-ID controls, and Google Ads Settings. You can also email us with the subject “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” to make a request.

California residents may have the right to access, delete, or correct personal information, opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and receive equal service without discrimination for exercising these rights. We will verify requests as permitted by law and respond within the time required by applicable law.

We use encryption in transit and at rest, server and database protections, and access controls designed to protect information against unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure.

We keep account data while your account is active and retain academic and calendar data only as needed for the services described in this policy. After you delete your account, we delete UniSync-held account data unless the law requires retention.

Deleting your UniSync account does not reset your device advertising ID or control how Google retains data it receives independently under its own policies.

Service providers, including Google for AdMob, may process data in countries other than your country. Those providers may apply their own privacy terms and data-handling practices to the information they process.

UniSync is intended for college and university students and is not directed to children. If we learn that we have collected personal data from a child, we will delete it on notice, subject to applicable law.
